Would traveling-forum succeed?

I was thinking about a niche I like myself and came up with traveling. Would a traveling-forum succeed? One where you could share and ask about upcoming places you are traveling to. And tell your review about hotels and like that.

I also tough about photography-part on the forum too. Mostly from trips and holidays abroad. As photography is my another passion. :D

Do you think that forum like this would get any members and money from advertising? Or would people just visit there to ask something when they are going abroad? Is there any change forum like this would get active members?

It could succeed if you had quality content. You'd need to have a traveling niche for it to be effective, since if you target every travel destination in the world, you wont have enough room for the forums. Target a region in the world and work on building information about that region. Remember, the best sites - making the most money- are sites providing the BEST content, think wiki.

There are many traveling forums and online communities already exist. Just Google it

You will also need daily quality content (news, articles, photos, videos).

There are loads of forums about this niche, and lots of different sites about it as well.. what you need to ask yourself is what would you do to make your site different from the masses?

It is a nice niche but it is very saturated. If you could associate with another travel site you could work something out that would give you an edge.

A site like Couchsurfing is good too and you could incorporate this into your site. The hard part is getting it started.

You should start a photography site if that is your passion. That makes sense and cents.

After doing your Google research etc, try and really narrow your niche down to one place, mode of travel etc. As suggested, upload some videos, pics etc. Use YouTube and others, social sites, articles, forums etc to drive traffic.

There are several great lists that people have put together on this forum. Just use the search feature and look around

It is as likely to succeed as any other business.... ultimately you have to have a reason why people use your site over the other 1,000,000,000 targeted at the same people... if you can find that reason it will succeed.... if you cant then it will fail.

Forums are one of the harder businesses to get running because like most social based sites they require users to attract new users so a vicious circle when first starting up... there are plenty of topics on this forum on this already if you search though.
