Would this work......?

I am able to get somepersonal html webpage hosting on the Leeds University domain www.personal.leeds.ac.uk

The way things are going for SEO with the main domain playing a major role in SERPS I am keen to explore the use of this hosting as Leeds.ac.uk has around 277,000 backlinks, 33000 .edu links, 1600 .gov links, 631 dmozes and was registered in 1997.

If I was to put a 301 redirect on this site and then promote and backlink it extensively with my keywords would it be ranked decently (assuming I got off-page SEO spot on)?

How does a 301 work in terms of on-page optimisation?

Can you have content on it as well?

Any other ideas how this might possibly work?

Ideally my site would be php and my hosting is for html only which is why I am thinking about a redirect.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve

This is 100% blackhat and may get you ranked for your keyword for a day or 2 before you get banned depending on how competitive the keyword is.
So make good use fo the time and monetize your page eefectively.

Thanks, not sure I wanted to go down the 100% blackhat route. If I was to just build a proper and informative html site on the hosting and then SEO to get this ranked. I could then have a link along the lines of "to find out more visit this site.

Is it worth doing? Will the fact that its a Leeds University domain help me get ranked quicker?

The hosting is of course totally legitimate, I am a student there.

this is not really blackhat. People do it all the time when they change their domain to a new one.

if you are in it for the long term, then do it right - ask your self if google is likely to mind what you are doing - if it is/feels even remotely black hat, then it's not white hat!!! stick with white hat (with maybe a tiny bit of grey if you have to)
