I've got an article on my website, its a step by step guide and is quite picture heavy (pictures for all the steps). Would putting the alt on all of the images as my keyword be black hat (say the article is about shed building and the alt for every image on there I set as "shed building")?
You should certainly use ALT tags, but only ones that are appropriate to the specific images they related to. If you can put 1 or 2 keywords within that tag to make it look natural, then it's okay. Do not try to stuff lots of keywords every ALT tag - use different variations. For example: - image1.jpg "Tools you need to build a shed" - image2.jpg "Building foundations for a shed" - image3.jpg "Half-way through the shed building project" - image4.jpg "The finished wood-built shed" If you can, change your image filenames to contain keywords too: - shed-tools.jpg - shed-foundations.jpg - building-shed.jpg - finished-shed.jpg Hope that helps... Cryo is right. Also think about this from a user perspective. Users using screen readers/with images turned off, for example, will get the same text "shed building" for every single picture. That's not very descriptive.
