Ok, the adsense requirements say that no part of your site can "obscure" an ad, but I have a dropdown menu on my site (just a mouseover) and its very large, when it drops down it covers an ad up, not on purpose, but there isnt much I can do about it :(

Do you think this will be acceptable? since its obvious I am not trying to screw them? Or is it an ironclad rule with no exceptions?

Honestly, Neticule I'd say better to be safe than sorry. Personally, I'd say change it. I'm pretty sure if they reviewed your site, they would think it was unacceptable to have a menu roll over the adsense link.

Someone may try to click on your menu link and roll off and accidentally hit an adsense link. If your adsense CTRs are inflated in any way, they will know and they can track that. It's not intentional I know, but they are very strict with their rules.

I've known many people to be kicked out of adsense because of not following guidelines.

Try to follow what the adsense TOS said. Change the ads and put the regular adsense ads on your site.

It wont be any problem unless any one from google sees that ur menu covers the ads.

you could ask google themselves. I can't interperet the TOS perfectly, but if you ask Google and they say yes you've got an excuse :)
