I was thinking about making a pets blog, maybe for a certain type of pet - as I have a lot of interest in the subject. However, would this be a profitable niche to focus on? Are there really that many people reading about pets on the internet?
i would say that there are loads of them out there already, if you have the knowledge then its great i would say, but think of how big is the competition you have, just a thought my friend, have you got the templates and stuff for this project ???
I think in this domain you will have a lot of competitors. You should pick a niche on this domain. Let`s say just cat food. But if you have a lot of knowledge in this domain, you can be in the top.
pets are a huge industry, just look at big box stores like petsmart/petscetera and others....lots of ppl in the US/canada/europe keep pets and spend alot of money on them.
There are tons and tons of pet sites but if you get fairly specific you might be able to do well with it. Instead of Joe's Big Dog site, you could narrow it down to Joe's Rescued Greyhound site. There are a lot of rescued greyhound sites but it's a decent example. More exotic pets would do better than something like golden retrievers.
Based on what I've seen, pets is one of the most searched-for niches. If you really corner a nice niche, you could really do well. I've considered this myself, but am knee-deep in what I'm already doing.
Yea probably a high paying niche if everybody is talking about owing a pet related web site. So yes easy money but lot's of competition.
Yes, some dude was just selling a pet medicine affiliate site and claimed some decent profits. Although I'm still trying to figure out how those sellers can really prove traffic/revenue. The screen shots are highly questionable.
yes narrow it down to a single pet and breed and you can carve out some money from that niche ... will take some time if you want to blog your way there, but if you have the desire and interest go for it!
agreed. narrow it down to a single pet and breed. if you go with a wide range of species, i can tell you that you are heading in the wrong direction.
I agree with the sentiments here, make it a laser-targeted niche that you can easily dominate, rinse and repeat.
If you have the knowledge and interest, you can pick the niche and be a roaring success.. Provided you are motivated
Well , i think its too competitive industry. How on earth you will gain traffic if your competitors are outsourcing their tasks to hundreds of people?
While the pet industry is really competitive there are plenty of opportunities if you niche down a bit. For example Glenn Livingston has made over $100,000 selling a book on gerbils. He used surveys to find out what his market wanted. It just goes to show you that with the right product in the right niche almost anything can work. Be well.
If you'd enjoy writing about pets, by all means start up a blog and get to writing. You should know straight up though -- a smalltime blog won't bring in much money at all. You're gonna have to think bigger than doing daily entries on some pets to make some real cash.
go to wordtracker or another keyword tool and see how many times the niche is searched. "pets" maybe too broad but check on cats, dogs, hamsters, reptiles etc.
Cats. People who like cats are mad for them. Can't stand the bird-killing sh** producing things myself - but 'cat people' will waste money on them, waste hours time looking for 'cute' pics of cats. Something cute with cats - you've got a potential goldmine.
