Would these PM's be considered SPAM?

Didn't see anything in the FAQ/Rules about this, so I figgered I'd ask here...

I've got some future projects in mind, and am considering some $100+ logo contests, with reasonable runner-up payments. From what I've seen, this dollar range and tactic seems to bring out some very talented designers.

Is there anything wrong with dropping 5-10 PM's to designers whose work I've seen in other contests, letting them know such a contest has started? This seems borderline spammy to me...but at the same time, if it's a designer who I've seen frequently enter contests, I'd assume he/she would probably be interested.

Against the rules? Bad etiquette? Neither? Both?

Why don't you just open a thread in the contest sub-forum?

I could see the question being posted there, but since I'm asking about site rules, it seemed more appropriate here.

While I'm certainly interested in what designers think about the question, I want to make sure I'm not doing anything that will result in infractions or a ban.

Well...if one of them thinks it's SPAM, that's one too many. :D

In retrospect, I probably should have trusted my gut instinct here...some designers might appreciate the notification, but the last thing I want to do is tick any of them off.

Unless they have 'Designer - PM me' or similar in their sig, NO.

Open a thread. Interested designers will submit.
