Would that be considered duplicate content

    Hi guys,
got a quick question about duplicate content.

If in our store I have a product that would fit in two different categories, e.g. a Dragon Table that fits the category Dragons but also would fit in the category Furniture/Tables and I list the product in both categories, would that be duplicate content in Master Google's eyes and would hurt the SEO of the site in general?
We have about 2500 products and approx. 25 they possibly would fit in 2 different categories.

    Any advice are greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

There should be different content for both Dragon Table and Furniture Table.

Yes, technically. However a simple redirect should allow you to have the effect of duplication without setting off their trigger. Make sense?

When it is classified under different categories or heads, i think it should be counted as duplicate. Because even though the product is same , it has different utility and it is listed in particular head considering its use in that way.

Yes, don't try to play with google rules, they can easily sand box you. Try and make it into 2 different categories.

No this will not considered as duplicate. Without any worry go for it. Example: Suppose you have a product with some specification then if you want to sell your product then you will show the same product specification in your multiple shops. If you are not doing so then you are doing spam providing wrong information to your customer.

Google==User Friendly====you are not cheating to any one then everthing is ok.

    Hi verdecove,

To prevent duplicate content worries, there is something that you can use called the canonical tag, that you place in the <head> section of the appropriate page, and this way you never have to worry about duplicate content within your site. But rather than go into a whole explanation about it here, you can find the info you need here:

    Hope this helps. =)

Yes, it certainly will come under "duplicate content".

But there are many ways to proactively deal with threatened duplicate content issues and they are all contained in this post

    Duplicate Content

There's an addon if its a wordpress blog where it changes the code behind any content you put on your website, so even if its duplicate google bots dont read the writing they read the code
