Would submitting to 500 directories raise eyebrows with google?

    Hi,

Lots of people on dp are offering link building. If a site has for example 20 links on google and then all of a sudden its submitted to 500 sites and maybe 400 are accepted, then would google penalise the site or has anyone experienced anything negative?

    Thanks

Do slow submission, especially for new sites! Quick growing of links will kill your site.

Yes, slow submission for new sites, let your sites URL mature in the SERP's to avoid the sandbox. I learned the hard way :(

I have done 1400 dir submission & 500+ article dir submission within 2 days on one site and still going strong, but it was indexed at least 3 months before doing so. This was coupled together with 120 social bookmarks and haven't been penalised as yet.

Make sure to use different anchor text when submitting to directories. This way, it looks more natural. Plus vary up your descriptions too.

probably 500 directories might raise a flag if you don't have many backlinks.

If you had several thousand backlinks then it would probably be ok. if you're using a tool to automate this, it should let you spread it over a number of days, so you can submit to maybe 25/day with different anchor texts.

I'm using a similar strategy but I already have 10k back links. But i'm still submitting to no more than 40 directories per day.

When you submit to 500 Directory there is not much chance that it accepted in all directory at a time,

Directory owners accept it after various times and suppose your site accepted in 300-400 directory within 3-4 days then also Its not possible that your site indexed by google same time so its not more risk to submit your site at a time in more directory.

Yes, Back links of your website should increase gradually. Don't forget that Google is hiring people to check search results manually in order to produce quality of result. Look at this post.

yeah different anchor text is a good idea. That way you don't bomb a whole lot of links with the same anchor at once. I also know that you should watch out for bad neighborhoods that you are linked to. Make sure you know the names of directories and where they are linked to. :)

hi all thanks for the replies.

I was mainly asking as there are lots of people hear offering link services. However i guess its not good unless you have 1000's of links in the first place.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Well i am offering Guaranteed Permanent Listings in 140/190/290/350/500 Directories over here in DP and the thread is very very successfull with more than 950 replies and more than 500 separate clients in DP..

Many clients ask whether it is right or not if so many links are acquired in one day - and will that hurt Site in Google and all???

The simple answer is that it wont hurt you at all. Cause look - you know buy so many links - you know that ur buying 500 links in one day. But google wont know this untill and unless its spiders indexes all those links and put it in their database. Usually on directories - specially on smaller directories - it takes quite a lot of time for links to get indexed - Just because of so many pages a directory has. And thus one's sites dont get penalised. You will find that all links wont be indexed in google in one day.

When this i am not saying with respect only to my directory listings - but this is a general thing. You will find that links will get indexed slowly over time and to google it would look like the links are being generated gradually and slowly. And there would be a gradual increase in SERPs of your site.

    Thank you.

Yes it can surely raise an eyebrow with google. BUT then again, depends on the quality of the sites that the links are from. If they are directories (cheap ones) or just simple no authority sites then you are in for a bad treat.

I think it all depends on the quality of the backlinks you are receiving if you receive 500 high quality backlinks it probably will not be a problem. I have added over 500 backlinks to my site at once but the backlinks were from a press release distribution and an article submission I was not penalized by google for doing this.

They wouldn't likely be accepted at the same time, nor crawled by Google at the same rate (so wouldn't find the links at the same time). Also, I don't know that being buried deep in a directory with tons of other links will necessarily count for that much anyway.

If you're nervous about it, then just do it in increments.

Keep in mind you won't be accepted in just one day.
Many directories will approve your link weeks/months later.
