Was wondering if starting an RSS feed benefits a website in SERPs by way of contributing more incoming links? Or RSS links not spiderable or not counted?
... and that, sameerpanjwani, is the key to it all. Just having an RSS feed available doesn't necessarily help since those are just outbound feeds but if you submit to some of the RSS feed sites so that it gets picked up then that's when you start seeing some inbound traffic.
Ditto. It also depends on the topic of your feed. Either way, places like ping-o-matic etc mass notify other sites (like Yahoo Groups etc) that your info is available.. it's the best next step. I personally view feeds as a great way to get traffic (and IBL's btw) PS: YFS - Bugger Me! Do you *live* on this forum ? 5198 posts ! Somebody should make you a mod Cheers, JL
thanks for the quick response from all of you it seems useful starting an rss feed, but unfortunately don't know how to. is it easy? can any of you suggest resources / links where i can learn how to go about creating an rss feed and also how i can go about promoting it?
I second that. I want to generate an RSS feed using a MySQL database for the content source, but I'm having trouble finding sources explaining how.
Does anyone have received actual good results from rss feeds being published in other sites? I know rss feeds are very popular right now to pull content into spammy sites, sometimes with no actual credit given.
