Hi everyone! My husband and I have been running www.littleshopofbeauty.com for over 5 years now. At first things went quite well and we grew fairly quickly (when we started there was much less competition). We have never spent any money on advertising and most of our sales come from repeat business/word of mouth. We are no longer growing, the competition/copying is fierce and I don't know what to do. We don't have alot of money to spend on advertising either. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that might be helpful. This company is kind of my baby; I make the products, do the write ups and come up with all of the scents (we have more than 500). I am getting somewhat burnt out with all this work and really need to make a positive change this year. Please let me know what you all think. I appreciate the help so very much!! Thanks in advance
You must first fix the grammer and spelling mistakes on that site... Then start building back links, which will help in getting better search engine ranks. Bye
Grammar and spelling mistakes (are you looking at the right site, lol)? Our site is has been triple checked for mistakes and my grammar is fine. Also we don't link to other sites as we're a store but thanks for the tip!
Some observation that I made: 1. Your site is not search engine friendly, try to get someone to help you with removing parameters from the url when you browse around the catalog. 2. Optimize your template for keywords that people really search for. Take advantage of free tool that DP provides at http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestions/ 3. Start doing some link building. 4. Try to contact some affiliate network programs as shareasale.com, affiliatefuel.com to see if they can accept your site as an advertiser. You can setup some sale commission to the affiliates. Good Luck...!!

Two very simple solutions for what you are looking for first start up an affiliate program and start hiring/getting other webmasters to promote your items for a percentage of the profit. Second consider starting a CPA account with Azoogle Ads and you will make money on whatever they sell for you. Of course your not going to make as much, but you are going to get new customers, more initial sales, and if you provide good service, more repeat clients. It's usually between 200-500 to open an account, but well worth it. Also, you could invest in some CPC or CPM and play numbers, but you will probly get further with CPA, plus Azoogle offers SEO with an account.
The list you have mentioned on the left side of your site that's below " Shop the Boutique" is not readable due to the dark background colour, make it easy readable.
What about a Blog or a Forum. If you need any help with these, or want to chat further please contact me. Mark
Thanks everyone! I actually have both a blog and a forum I'm working on a new blog but the forum has been a really good thing and we've had it since the beginning. And etechsupport, our color is normally a light pink but we changed it to red for the holidays. It is not easily readable though so I'll be very happy to have it back to a lighter color this week. Thanks so much for all the tips!!
PPC advertising works pretty good for online shops. You could start with little highly-targetted keywords on Adwords, Overture and 7search. And that advertising won't be your "investment", which means you will get the money right after you spend them. The second thing you could do is to find some similar shops and link-exchange with them, because PR3 is kinda low for 5 y.o. website. Good luck!
