Hi I would like to put 10 music videos on my site that people could watch, how do i make this legally? Do i need to buy the music videos first and then pay some sort of fee, also where do i pay this fee? I live in EU. If someone could point me in the right direction, i would be very happy. BK
It don´t work like that, there is some companies that manage rights to such things and they pay the artists. I just dont know the names of the companies. So when you use music on your website, you pay the company and it pays the artist or record company where ever they are located in the world. I know this much, just dont know who to contact. Also, i would like to have one place to do my business in.
Even youtube has to remove some of their videos for the reasons of copyright.mostly they will contact you when your hurt their right.Besides, different countries different law on copyright. That would be very difficult. You can update this thread if any good ideas up.
Well, i know for a fact that you can buy rights in a bulk format in any music video, you just need to pay a monthly fee + the cost of the video. I just dont know the names of the companies. I know one place where you can buy rights to almost any music in the world, but they dont give rights to music videos, only audio. 24 hours of music played on your website costs around 250 euros a month + you need to buy the albums. So if you show 24 hours of music 24 / 7 around the month, it costs you around 250 euros, and the company pays the artists and record companies directly. So the point im making is that there are these companies, i just dont know what companies deal with music videos. Now i could contact all music companies, but it would be very big task to deal with each one. BK
This is actually correct. There is a licensing feet, like streaming radio stations have to pay. I think it's around $750 a year. But that might have changed since I last looked into it.
