As I have mentioned in another thread, my site is currently only making about $20 per every 20,000+ impressions. I understand part of my problem may be the relevence of the ads to the content, but I'd also like some ideas as to how I can improve the placement of my ads. I've attached a screenshot of one of the pages on my site. Thanks
OK, I realized you attached a screenshot, but can you please just give us your URL. Refer to this thread for the reasons why: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1091746
IMO, the first and foremost problem you have is with ad relevance. If users are not interested in the ads they won't click, regardless of how well they are placed. I see 1 link unit and 1 ad unit, each with only 2 ads, both for student loans. Google likely needs some help with determining which ads to serve. So I would add some appropriate text in the header and footer of your pages to help google out. With all that being said, what you have right now is not bad. But if you are determined to test further, (and assuming you have more text/content on your page so google can serve more than 2 ads per "unit") I'd try replacing your current ad unit with either; 1) 4 ad horozontal ad unit (Leaderboard 728 x 90) with 4 pictures above to draw the users eyes to the ad. (See the thread by critters for more info- This is "legal", there are rules though, and the graphics can't be misleading) Using graphics can be very helpful, and I think they would work well with your current format. or 2) use a horozontal link unit (728x15). I'd also lose the "advertise on this site" I personally think it's a little tacky- Some people have reported increased ctr after removing, though I did not notice any significant difference when I removed mine.
