Would like some feedback on my website

I would like some feedback on my website: www.Apettag.com

I have made changes to the products and lowered the prices over the past 2 months. I usually am good at selling the pet collars and pet I.D. tags. There just seems to be something wrong with this site.

Perhaps, could a few people try to go through placing an order to see if there are any kinks in the process? I don't expect you to buy something, just go through to check if everything is working properly.

I have been great at getting traffic to the site. I have had over 80,000 visitors in 4 months. And very few orders.

In fact, If you have any ideas on working together where I can make some money by all the traffic I get to the site. Nothing "Adult" oriented. I don't know much about the Affliate Programs and other ways to make money via clicks and such. Help me out.

    Thanks,

    J.D.

What is a good color for the background? Is there any marketing research that shows certain colors are better than others?

I didn't pick the green. The web maker did that.

I almost threw up when I saw the puke colored green background ;)

Yes, use white / black / blue. There's a reason most corporate websites use these colors. They're unoffensive, easy on the eyes, good for contrast, most people like them, etc.

Although I imagine the sort of person who would buy a pet collar wouldn't care much about how a website looks. :p

    A few other suggestions:
    • You contact email is @yahoo which is unprofessional and has likely lead to at least one lost sale. Why not use or even better use a contact form?
    • Only 2 testimonials?
    • "Our Difference" page. Why all caps? Are you yelling at your customers?
    • "Shipping" page. Do you ship worldwide? Maybe mention that.
Other than that I think it's pretty good. If you make those changes and ARE STILL not getting better conversions, perhaps your traffic is not targeted enough. For example, maybe you're getting organic traffic for the keyword "pet food" instead of "pet collars".

My comments are all meant to be constructive criticism, so hopefully you aren't insulted by how straightforward they are ;)

Thanks. That's the kind of feedback I want. I will make those changes.

As far as traffic, I email market to animal rescue organizations, dog breeders, kennel clubs, dog clubs, pet sitters, veteranarians, dog owners, etc. I have built a list of emails, over 20,000, that targets these groups. Otherwise, I run ads on "pets" and "pet supplies" on any free classifieds I can. So I figure the traffic is mainly pet owners and pet lovers.

I need the feedback because you know how you can look at something a million times, and just not see what the problem is. The only other thing I can think is that I started the site in November (4 months ago), and a lot of people check it out the first time and may come back to order.
