Hi everyone, I'm new here. I just recently launch a website (http://www.dealhandler.com) and it basically just aggregate those daily deal sites like Groupon, LivingSocial, Travelzoo, townhog and a bunch others. So if you goto my site, you'll notice the logo is currently an empty box. I was thinking about creating a logo contest on digital point to have someone modify the logo. I basically just want to have official logos from other sites such as groupon, yelp, etc packing into the box (3D). This will be more meaningful for visitors as to what this site does (collect deals from groupon, yelp etc). Do you know if it is legal to include other logos? What about partial logos since part of it will be inside the box? Another question is that I have to wait 14 days before posting on WTB contest since I'm new. I was hopping to have to logo up sooner. I'm willing to pay of course, just not sure why there's this restriction. I'm also currently advertising on google ad. edit: live link not available to me yet.. sorry to make you guy copy & paste
When you use the brand logo as the part of your site's logo you create false impression that your site is an official site of that brand. You need to ask Groupon or others about the permission first, but I think most of merchants will not allow to use it that way.
Yes without anyones permission it is illegal. You must contact the owner of that website and ask for permission, then give copyright to them saying it's their image. ~ Slutz ~
