    Hi guys,
Just wondering whether I'd be breaking any rules if I made a site where I downloaded videos from YouTube and put them on my website??

I'm guessing it would break some form of copyright laws, but could someone confirm?

    Thanks,
    Simon

Why don't you use the same policy/disclaimer as youtube? Then it should be legal because I don't think youtube has "ownership" over the movies, it only hosts them.

Yes doing so would be illegal unless you get permission from the people that made the videos. Just use the embed option that youtube gives you to avoid all the hassle and do it legally.

People gave YouTube permission to host those videos when they uploaded them. You wouldn't have any rights if you just copied them. But I guess this technicality just slipped your mind.
