Would email marketing help in SEO? I am not sure if the links would be found by google, and I don't think it does. I was just curious. ~Chris
Unless people post their email's online, email marketing will not help in SEO. However, email marketing can help get your site's word out and giving it more coverage, so that people will visit and may link to it.
Yeah, try and create some sort of e-mail subscription for a service e.g. articles, this is how alot of people get re-occuring traffic, its an excellent technique Im terms of SEO, no its wouldnt help sadly
Just make sure not to offend people with your email marketing. The days of spam being effective for legitimate businesses is over (if it ever worked). Don't ruin your reputation, only email people who will benefit and desire your communication. When done effectively, email marketing can be your most profitable means of marketing due to its low cost and targeted audience. Have a prosperous year!
The actual links in emails won't count though. However, having an email signature should always be part of your overall Internet marketing strategy.
Those people do have some kind of evidences ? Because some people have said that PR from Gmail inbox had value, which was denied by Matt Cutts if I remember well.
PR has no value but if a site has lots of natural email activity its a good indicator of it not being a spam site. http://www.wolf-howl.com/seo/google-reader-the-borg-is-watching/ I'm not saying they do this but they could in the future.
SEO = Marketing to a large extent. Since e-mail can be part of marketing, sure it can get links. I know of link-lists that have been e-mailed for years and were then put online on several websites - with the link to my site unfortunately misspelled . Anyhow: yes, it's part of SEO to mail links to people and even better of course if you can get people to mail your link to their friends.
Thanks for the replies everyone. So its a good way to market and have a chance that people may want to link to your website (since I wont spam). Good to know, I may still do it then.
