I was doing some reading and apparently there are people that offer leasing services on domain names.

Would anyone in their right mind really lease a domain?

I can see the benefits on both sides such as short term etc.

Imagine owning a nice premium domain name like Money.com. As an owner I would prefer to lease this domain to someone and still retain control of it after x period of time.

On the other hand someone could lease this domain for a year or however long and take advantage of it for significantly less of an investment.

I am curious to get some opinions on domain name leasing.

The only time I'd imagine it being worth doing is if you have a limited time promotion, and need to use a domain name that's already been purchased. So, after your promotion is over, you have nothing to lose.

Yes I would lease a domain name as long as it was a top rank domain name. Also I would look for a buy it now price so if my lease was $6000.000 per year after 2 years I could but it out.
