Would anybody suggest a stats service such as...

    Google Analytics is your choice. Give it a try, it's free and has lot of great features. I've been using it for about a year now and I recommend it to everyone.

    Check out quantcast, its a free, directly measured traffic tool.

    Personally I use 2 tracking tools, google analytics and quantcast.
