Would a forum increase position in Google?

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering on what your thoughts are on this.

If a site was at a constant #6 for a given keyword in Google, would installing a forum (for the sake of installing a forum) improve in position due to the additional 30 or so pages that a forum would automatically generate?

Obviously making sure the required keyword was put in at around 5% density on the newly generated pages.

I am thinking of trying this out as a bit of a test. Is this a good or a bad idea?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this one.

It's often a good idea to add a blog and additional pages because you get additional 'internal links'. I haven't tried with forums but it should have same effect.

That is pretty much what I thought, too.

I might give it a try (today) and let you know how it goes in a couple of weeks, to give Google a chance to find the pages.

You will be listed in the discussions section if you have a forum. Do it.

    I just did it. :D

We'll see how this affects SERP rankings in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you guys posted. This should be an interesting test.

As I said I am currently at a stable #6 for my chosen single keyword.

Yeah %100 .. But forum must be quality .. and must be open on first 3-5 pages on particular category for exp ; iPhone .. if you search on google iphone forum - you will get lot of forum related to the iPhone and your blog / posts must be related to the iphone (any sub category ) so make post on first 2-3 pages that showing google search engine.

If your blog or site have lot of quality backlinks then ..it will give you superb result.

Don't spam the forum or don't do copy past .

I did it itself and got good result..
