Hi All, I was thinking that with all the information that is available on the forums starting a DP wiki would be a great idea and resource. Shawn what do you think? Can we also get a sub-category under the "Content Management" forum called "wiki"? Wikis are gaining lots of momentum and can be a valuable resource for many sites. Others - What are your thoughts around this issue? cheers Frank
Hey Guys ... if there was a DP wiki IMAGINE the awesome content it would have! I'd help BUT i'm a completely useless when it comes to technical stuff. Here is the software being used: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki
I have been using a mediawiki on one of my site, (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki), it takes a bit of time to setup but once it is up and running it is a nice addition. A wiki dedicated to SEO or something would be great. If you need help with it I could always help you, (and I am sure hundreds of DP members will be glad to help). FFMG
Perfect idea. Searching threads for information is not really the best experience which is prone to posting the same question over and over. Wiki would solve ( bring to a minimum) those problems. Cheers!
That will teach me, , I didn’t feel like looking at it straight away. At least it wasn’t some dubious site. FFMG
I can make one! I've actually been thinking about moving the AdSense/YPN/mod-rewrite FAQs to a wiki so any one can add to them, since of course I'm not the only one with knowledge about them. Heck, I learned some mod_rewrite/.htaccess stuff from replies to that FAQ!
hey nino finally got you in one of my threads .. ... i think we should convince Shawn to set one up ... we could have tons of useful information and it could be the hub for many questions. We could have the latest faq and source on the coop on it, and all sorts of wicked/wikid stuff on it. Should we turn it into an amit thread ? hehehehe I couldn't stuff laughing even after reading it like 3 times. cheers Frank Also on an other note, we may need to get some knowledgable moderators on the wiki because there could be some serious inaccurate posting of information. I visited a forum last night run by one of the top internet marketers and I was blown away. Have the stuff that is posted on the forums is by newbs, 90% of it is inaccurate, misleading or BH and the moderator is the internet marketer and some moderating he does - just pumps his products. I couldn't believe it. No I won't say who it is ...
If this thread turns in to a Amit/Wacko/PYPC thread, Shawn'll never look at it again!! Look at da thread about having the Rep board. He thought it was a great idea...until I came alone 30 minutes later and high-jacked it and turned it in to a 'Need a wacko board' thread!!! In my video game wiki, almost every time some one adds something, I have to edit it!!
it's actually quite a good idea. lots of questions have been asked over and over again and a wiki would probably lessen that. hold up, i think someone already said that. oh well that's my opinion as well
Well, if it's a wiki managed in the way wikipedia is, then it should be self moderating and work quite well.
