We are currently considering switching our payment processing to 2checkout rather than Paypal for a variety of reasons, but I'm looking to get some general opinion on the topic first. We recognise Paypal has long been the preferred payment processor for most things online, but would you be discouraged from purchasing goods or a service from a website if you had to checkout through 2checkout? Before making you decision, bare in mind you can still pay via your Paypal account through 2checkout. Regardless of your answer being yes or no, I'd appreciate it if you could give your reasoning, too. WebDev
I have a monthly subscription with an ecommerce template provider and they used 2checkout to charge my credit card. Didn't discourage me one bit, but then again, I work online and was already somewhat familiar with 2checkout. Hope that helps. Good luck and all the best to you.
I use 2Checkout... You will know from your traffic report.. Its possible for your customers to get to maybe a certain page for processing the payment and stop... Just be creative.. Try other option if you have them..
I'm using 2checkout for few of mine companies and it shows well. If you're planning to start with 2checkout, you can use coupon WMDIZHR and get 2Checkout for free!
It depends on a lot of factors. Do I trust the company? If I don't know them personally, how quickly is my trust established? I look at "about us" (no people info, address or phone = no purchase at all), the quality of the web site and other factors. The less I trust, the more reason I would choose paypal, if at all. On the other hand, for established companies, I don;t use paypal ever and I don't think it matters at all.
I wouldn't be discouraged. I've been using 2CO for years, both as a vendor and as a buyer; therefore, they have my thumbs up
Yea totally I would buy from a website that used a different payment processor other than just paypal. I mean paypal is great but they are sure not the only processor that offers good services as far as customers are concerned. I think the only people who would have problems buying something from a website that did not have paypal are people who are not knowledgeable about the internet. So the next question you should ask are who are your customers. If you are selling something to internet marketers of techy people, then the switch will not phase them at all. But if you are selling to elderly people, then you might want to make it known to previous customers about the change and ensure that the payment processor is still secure and their information is safe.
Well, you can eliminate guesswork by going the Google way and just testing everything. I would set up an A/B test putting, say, every 3d transaction through 2C to measure the impact.
