Hi all, just after a bit of general advice that others might also be able to take on board. Basically I've got a satirical news website (see sig), which probably falls into the humour/comedy category, running ads by adsense.. with very low results. I've been using adsense for about 2 months now, CTR <1%, earnings of around $7. Now I know most of you will say "give it time", "add more content", "seo" etc etc. But what I'd like to know is, how successful can adsense be on sites that aren't dedicated to the usual niches, like health, lawyers etc. Is it worthwhile to keep adsense on? Am I (and others) better off getting paid advertising CPM advertising from private organisations, or stick to Adsense? Or perhaps both... Looking forward to your responses!
Adsense sucks on a site like yours. Basically your niche won't have high paying advertisers and visitors to your site usually aren't buyers.
That's what I've been thinking, maybe I'm better off looking for advertisers/selling space on my site...
I should also mention my search engine positions, as per google webmaster/analytics info # % Query Position 1 30% beer in mandarin 10 2 17% www.wetpaper.ro 8 3 8% twilight turning 2 4 8% wet paper 2 5 8% galaxy 160x90 5 6 8% lottery wet 7 7 8% kids+news+twilight 9 8 8% how to be more popular at school 10 I've also received hits from queries such as 'mothers against twilight', 'aliens on moon news' etc from keywords in my articles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've been reading alot about websites with poorly written content performing well in adsense, as viewers are quick to get away from the site and find more relevant information. Any truth in this?
