Does anyone have any research or fact based opinions on getting Amazon Affilate IDs for countries other than the United States if you are located here? I see that some of the Amazon Affiliate plugins offer the ability to enter IDs for many countries. I don't know if it is worth the effort to get these IDs or not. Please share your experience.
Amazon's Affiliate-Program-Per-Country thing isn't an ideal approach, ultimately it leaves you with two distinct possibilities: 1) Build a system that holds all the geo-specific affiliate links for a specific product and redirect people on the fly to it 2) Geo target websites for each particular associate programme. Neither of which are much fun, or ideal.
Thanks for the response. I Googled around and it seems people do the easy ones, Canada, Germany, France and the UK. It is hard to sign up for Italy and Spain. Doing the application for Japan and China presents language difficulties.
Yes apart from the language difficulties it is pretty much the same. However, do consider how you will get your money once you have earned it. I live in the UK and have to cash big US dollar cheques every month, which would normally trigger a big fee from my bank. To avoid this I opened a US bank account - a bit of a hassle, but more than worth it.
