Hello all, A couple of weeks back, I acquired a WP website with a PageRank of 8. This is not a fake PR as I have checked it through various means through google (like site:domain.com, link:domain.com,etc) I just want to have an idea what should be the REAL Worth of this WP website If I sell it? Or how much should I charge for permanent links If I want to start a High PR backlink service. Kindly post your views on this so that I can take full advantage of this real Gem.
no. I didn't buy it. Actually how I acquired it is something personal. I just need to know the value of it coz I just don't know how much should it worth.
Well, even if you checked it through site:x and various tools it still doesn't mean that site is clean. Ready to bet that this PR was acquired through some kind of redirect tricks or cloaking before you got it, however, you still can try to sell it or take payments for placing links on it. How much? Well, check how much people are offering on link markets and ask something the same.
hmm.... you might be correct but I cross checked it multiple times with multiple methods if its really some kind of redirect? I really did not found any possible tricks or cloaking. its a Real PR 8. But before putting it up for sale OR before starting selling links on this, I just want to have some idea about HOW MUCH this site worth? Or how much I should charge for links?
I can not disclose the domain name openly here for obvious reasons. That's why I am just asking about the worth of it. BTW, I sent you a PM with the domain name.
Pagerank 8 is almost unheard of, and if a domain has pagerank 8, it's insanely valuable. Many people say pagerank means nothing, I disagree, advertisers will pay good money to be featured on a high-PR site. Plus, for a site to have that high a PR, it must be insanely popular (to build that many links).
And here comes another simple way to check if this site's pr is real, check the amount of backlinks and what they look like. To have such a high PR site must be really old and having hilarious amount of high ranked trusted backlinks.
it is likely a fake, the site:domain.com checks are not enough, you have to check what high PR backlinks point to that domain to justify its PR8
PM me the domain if you want, I will give you an appraisal free of charge. IMO you cant really value a website/domain on Google's PageRank alone, because in all reality, PR by itself means nothing, and is often a false positive because of redirects or whatever. There are a lot more factors of a domain that weigh much more heavily than PR in its overall value.
I agree with Swift Toney and atxsurf. Using the google site:domain.com query only checks to see if the site is indexed. How many links actually show up when you used the link:domain.com query (I know it doesn't show every link, but the high quality ones should show up) in Google? I've seen plenty of times people have 301 redirected their site to a high PR site for a short amount of time to get a temporary PR boost. They then sell it to a gullible buyer who is impressed by the high PR and pretty splash/landing page. The PR will plummet soon enough, leaving the buyer with a worthless domain/website. I know you didn't buy it, but I wouldn't expect the PR to stay high for long.
can you pm me the url? anyway, you should check the backlinks. if it has many backlinks, then good. but that doesn't end there. you also need to check the quality of the backlinks. are there high PR backlinks, like PR 7s to PR 9s to justify or support the PR 8. if there are, then you 've probably just got a gem there.. if not, then i'm sorry, it must be fake PR 8.
