Worth making 'mobile version' of site?

Is it worth making a mobile version of a website?

I'm using WordPress for a few sites, and have been using the Mobile WordPress plugin that makes a parallel mobile edition of the site. It requires no work from me to leave it installed, but I'm wondering if it can cause any SEO problems. And am also wondering if it's just a waste of time - I've checked my logs and practically nobody (except me) views my sites with a handheld or phone, or whatever triggers the mobile edition to display instead of the normal site.

Q1) Is it worth bothering with?
Q2) Can it cause duplicate content issues?

Unless you have something that people will actually be using your site while on their cell phones, I don't see a big need to have your site "mobil'ed".

I'd believe so, though I haven't actually tested it. To a crawler, it would be just text, just like your main site, so I'd just restrict (robots.txt) the crawlers from accessing the mobile version.
