Questioning myself if this is something that works? because poker affiliates give high payments and bonusses.

There are simply too many sites doing this already, to rank high in SERPs would take a lot of effort and you'd need to offer something all the other cookie cutter sites didn't... too tough.

Don't give up so quick. Just because people here tell you it's impossible, doesn't mean it is. Maybe it's too hard for them, but maybe you have what it takes to break through. If the rewards are high, you don't necessarily have to rise to the top to make money, maybe you can rise just enough to make some good money.

Now looking to branch out into other areas. I'm glad you all think it will be easier:)

I've run a poker tutorial site for a couple of years but have'nt made a penny from it. The one affiliate program that was making signups for me...I got stiffed by.
The site actually ranks high on Yahoo and MSN for some terms getting (1k-3k) searches a month.

My new plan is to keep adding content/ then sell it to somebody.

Will do. I want to add some more original content before selling it though. I was just bragging on the SERP rankings and just noticed it dropped a bit in Yahoo.

BTW, does anyone here have an opinion on affiliate poker advertising on U.S. sites? I've done a little research and it seems the feds are stepping up efforts to remove offshore gambling ads from U.S. based media outlets and websites. I could'nt find examples of anyone actually getting prosecuted for this, but apparently letters threatening legal action are being sent out etc.

I still think theres a lot of space for poker affiliates.

I run a poker forum and I am getting contacted by rooms constantly making offers to advertise on my site or offering a higher % than normal.

There's easier types of websites to market other than poker, due to all the competition. Find a niche or some product and start working on that. It'll be easier to get better ranking in the search engines due to less competition. Shareasale has a lot of niche affiliate programs, and they also provide datafeeds for many of them.

I agree with this one. Why choose a market that's so competitive? There are plenty of markets out there with less competition and better roi

It's like any other niche. If you are not an expert in it, want to be or love the niche, you will most likely fail or not do so well.

There's plenty of money to be made in the niche if you love the game and play. Just remember, the more competitive the niche, the more you need original and exclusive content. In this niche, anything less will not do.
