Today i did want i never wanted to do and downloaded a copy of xp.

I had a virus for about 3+ months which i could not get rid of :| and me being stupid me i wanted more space on my HDD so i removed the recovery parition and lost the XP disk.

The virus kept redirecting me after i clicked on a link on search engines such as google, msn, yahoo...... . Some of the search engines never even worked.

    Programs i tried,

    Hijack This
    CCleaner
    Adaware
    Search and Destroy
    Nod32
    Avast
    Ect......

started to pull my hair out. so i even downloaded Firefox and my USB. Removed both opera and IE and installed FF but it was worse.

So today i downloaed Tiny XP which runs very smooth as the OS is just taken 400mb on new installed:)

Problems Solved:D but all data lost:(. I did not want to take the chance as the virus could a been stuck to anything.

    Anyone else had this problem?

A big second vote for the FREE Malwarebytes. It cleaned up a trogan that was disabling Norton and pushing the cpu to 100%. I had to terminate a few processes to get the cpu under control before I ran it.

Another spyware found nothing on the system. MW found three different things going at the same time.

Try out ComboFix, that will get rid of any viruses at least for the meantime.
Then scan the PC with Gary Utilities, that will help you fix broken applications and any viruses.

The above tools are free and well worth a try, I recommend you also buy Kaspersky to stay safe in the future!

    Best of luck!

You should probably try some recovery software to see if you can get any data back.

Yep! If you re-install XP, PC works just fine. But, all the data go somewhere to the place only expensive recovery software can reach.
So, I said good-bye to all my data when I re-installed XP 3 month ago
