Worst debator ever? Or stupidest politican ever?

This thread reminded me of something. I've lived in the DC area for a long time.

Years ago I dated this girl who worked in a congressman's office. The guy was voted year in and year out as the "dumbest member of congress". The local DC press annually has polls on stuff like this.

I met the guy at a couple of staff functions and a wedding for another staffer and events like that.

That guy was DUMB! Big time. He was some business man from that district who somehow made it to congress and was reelected a number of times.

At first I couldn't remember if he was a Democrat or Republican. But he was a subcommittee chairman...and at the time we were dating the Dems controlled congress...so he was a dem.

At some point while he was the sub committee chairman there was a big issue going on for that subcommittee. I remember reading how the House leadership moved the discussions and committee reviews from that guy's subcommittee to a different subcommittee.

It was because the guy was dumb.

There are no brains requirement for being elected to any office.
