Worried about Paid Links? Could this be the Solution?

    This just occurred to me:

Most webmasters are worried about their paid links in directories. I noticed that most directory scripts have a direct access to: submit.php, addurl.php, etc.

I have been using qlWebDS - Directory Script (in which I am very much involved - no secret here) and it seems that the submit page cannot be accessed unless you first enter the URL, therefore not diclosing the link prices.

Please correct me if I am wrong here. I am not sure how this actually works in reality and if it'll make a difference but I did notice that on the last PR update all my directories (those that have been released before the update) have gained PR on Home Pages AND inner pages.

At the same time, I have noticed how many other directories (using other scripts) lost their PR on ALL inner pages, including my own phpLD directory that had PR2 and PR3 inner category and sub-category pages.

I've also noticed that the Google PR for the inner pages of many directories has been reduced to zero in recent updates. Did Google do this to try to discourage link selling in these directories by making the links no longer pass PR. Is that the reason?

    I believe you're wrong. ;)

A number of directories using various scripts have experienced similar results as your own (internal PR or increased PR); as well as a number of directories using the same scripts as you having no internal PR.

In fact, I see a directory in your signature that might be a year old with few categories having any PR?

The recent changes are not limited to any specific script.

    100% agree with this.

I never understood why people would make this sort of "based on nothing" assumtions.

I do agree that anyone is trying to promote what he thinks it's good but it shouldn't be done like " You know guys...I suppose / guess / presume this script is way better because I suppose / guess / presume it might do this and all the others don't".

Everyone knows that until recently if you had a good PR on your homepage, the inner pages will follow usually with a -1, -2 from the main page.

I think Google regards the inner pages in a much more independent way these days , the PR won't just flow from your homepage but you'll have to promote and build backlinks for any other page on your website.

even if you have a suppa duppa directory script or not and you do sell links, you will always end up like the crowd. In the end you are still selling links like the rest do.

Practice what you preach; and don't end up being in the *wrong crowd*

Simply add the links back in the footer of the template you're using.

    See Here for details.
