Worldpress Alternative?

I am looking to have something similar to Wordpress but I don't want all the plugins, comments, etc.

I just want to be able to submit articles on an admin page that have them posted on my site. While I understand thats what Wordpress does, Wordpress has too much stuff I don't need. I simply need to submit articles and that's it.

Is there a custom script I can use that can do this?

Pardon me. Non mainstream alternatives. Like a script or something just to put articles into one spot.

Mainstream alternatives are a good thing, you can easily get support.

Just because Wordpress has stuff, doesn't mean you need to use it all. Just use it for what you need.
That's the beauty of it. It's flexible.

I'd stick with WP too. Only because you can find support anywhere, it's free, and it's relatively easy to set up and get going in a few minutes. Even under an hour for a novice.

Disable Comments and Don't install any plugins. Why not try B2evolution or pick one from this list it's a little outdated but you will get a good idea from more blogging platforms on the market http://asymptomatic.net/blogbreakdown.htm

there are many alternatives, but why restrict yourself?

Wordpress is open source and growing everyday.

You may only want on feature, but whats to say you wont want want them in the future?

and just because the features are there doesnt mean you need to use them.

wordpress is great but in my opinion the best cms available right now is expression engine, the only concern with using ee is that its not nearly as user friendly as wordpress yet in my experience if you know what you're doing it allows for the most adaptability and control over your working environment and content.
