World of Warcraft Professionals Thread

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by iitob, Jan 10, 2008.

There are almost 10,000,000 World of Warcraft players in the Western World today. Some of these are cashing in on the game by developing communities, complimentary web sites, services, tools, addons and a whole host of other properties. There's also many World of Warcraft players who are web professionals but don't necessarily do anything with WoW per-say.

I work with several World of Warcraft and MMORPG-related companies/organisations and often find it difficult sourcing designers, programmers, writers, coders and other web professionals who understand WoW and MMORPGs in general. But this thread is going to change all that for me and those of you out there who have similar issues.

If you play World of Warcraft or any other major MMORPG title, please post your game, game experience and real-world skills so that myself and other people seeking MMORPG-knowledgable web professionals can find you.

    Thanks for reading guys! ;)

Interesting topic. I play World of Warcraft, I primarily play a level 70 warlock on the Runetotem US server. I do a lot of the PvP / Arena with a few friends.

I also have experience in web development (PHP, HTML, CSS, some JavaScript) and Internet Marketing.

Excellent - thanks for the first response. I guess I should have put down my bio too...

I work in search engine optimization, web usability and conversion optimization. I've worked exclusively with companies related to the MMORPG industry for 3 years now and have major in clients in the USA, Mainland Europe and China.

I'm currently playing WoW (rather unsuccessfully) but have previously played Anarchy Online for 5 years.

    Who's next?

I'm a big mmo fan, played eq for 7 years, wow for 2.

In wow I play a 70 holy paladin, I pretty much live in arenas nowadays. In season 1, I won a netherdrake for all 3 of my teams, in season 2 my 3v3 and 5v5 were ranked #1 in the battlegroup before I started team hopping.

Right now me and a few friends are selling 3v3 and 5v5 teams for points weekly. And at the end of the season we sell team spots for people to win netherdrakes. It's all for in game gold though, not real money.

I work for an online payment processor(similar to paypal) that specializes in Digital content, would be interesting to try and combine the two areas and see if we can work with some of the industries that have developed around MMO games.

I have pretty extensive experience in MMOs. EQ2, Anarchy Online, WoW, ect. Currently playing alliance palladin and warlock....GM of a small raiding guild.

As for my experience outside of the games I have worked with companies in the MMORPG industry for nearly 3 years. I have worked in internet marketing, profit minded research and development for MMOs, SEO, and getting into a bit of web development recently.

Great topic, IITOB. There is alot of profit in this industry and great potential if like minded folks can pool their knowledge and resources.

Speak to some MMO professionals, you'll realize that most of us don't have time to play the games anymore ;)

I guess it has the fuzzy social element like the sims with the rabid fanboy base of the fantasy genre.

I have a lvl 42 human warrior on the Forgotten Coast. This game is a time waster, not necessarily in a bad way :)

I used to play this WoW game ;) - my name on wow europe was the same as on here "crystak" you can check it out on armory if you want.

Back in the day when I stopped playing I was the top druid on my server ;).

Why did I quit? I finally realized it was wasting too much of my time and I could focus on other stuff like making money and studying instead :D - and I think all the WoW players should realize that if they have a brain; however in most cases, they don't.
