World of Warcraft - Can it be profitable?

People who have played WoW at great length have either come to realize that it is a time consuming cash beast. Everyone else is still playing it.

Say you start up a realm forum, a place for realm members to chat without the annoying restrictions of the official WoW forums, you get 400 or so members from the realm and many non-registered members - generating around 2000 hits per day lowest.

You bring more members in by offering gold, events, and interesting topics, and you suddenly start to think, maybe I could make money from this? Every WoW player either buys a gamecard, debits a subscription, or has access to their parents card to some extent, thus its fair to assume that visitors are all able to spend - and also extremely easy to target with products or advertisements.

Of course to keep this going you need an active wow account to obtain gold for the competitions.

    What i was thinking..

Would there be a market for such a forum as an advertising base, accompanied by a WoW account loaded with gold to keep people coming?
