Nope, because some crying buck-toothed git was playing for Portugal :)

But yeah, what does this have to do with politics? Eurovision is all down to politics, not sure if you yanks know about it, but it's basically a music contest where you vote for your favourite music act from another European country - only music doesn't come into it.

Eurovision is a contest based on votes. That's what's so significant with it. All people in Europe can vote..

Maybe not, but you can hardly claim the voting is a true reflection on the songs. Greece never vote for Turkey, Greece and Cyprus almost always vote for each other, the Balkans always vote for each other and Norway and Sweden always vote for each other. I don't know why they bother with songs, they may as well just vote for countries that they like.

It's all to do with politics. France won't vote for the UK because they don't like the war in Iraq (and they way that Eurovision is in English, not French) so they vote for French speaking countries. Russia gets loads of votes from former USSR/Soviet countries. Finland votes for Sweden, vice versa, as they're neighbours, the same is true for UK and Ireland and for Cyprus and Greece. Honestly, everyone in the UK knows that it's a load of rubbish, which is why NOONE wants be the UK act because even if they're good they don't get votes, it's a career stigma.

Can't see whats wrong with that, people are still free to vote for whatever they want. Doesn't make it less democratic at least.

I agree that the contest suck but would you suggest that Finland won because of political votes? And I don't think you can speak for all the people in UK tough I think the majority does.

I think you were the person who mentioned democracy.
The originl point of the poster (since you can't understand) is that the votes are based on politics rather than the music.

If you can't see that then you even more clueless than I ever thought.
