I want to present one technique of hosting company promotion, which I think, will work. It’s directories, hosting directories.

“Stop, stop, stop man” – I will hear, “we’ve passed it”. No good result.

you are right, in the age of web2.0 people must create reputation of your company, and public relations section must be. in this case hosting company directory is only the addition for your main project

2aras: do you think hosting directories are unneeded now? analysing sales it's correct, but... what do you think, can this project live?

 

Well i may be mistaken, cause what you think might not be the common sense always. I dont know anyone who researches hosting directories before buying hosting. And more than that all the web sites in that directory are usually same. Within new trend of GIGA plans of 3000 GB bandwidth which you wont ever use, and same type of graphics, hosting industry is just going to a point where everyone is same.

For that, i said you need to be sexy.. Attract somebody's attention by doing something else. Like when you saw some one in the street that takes your attention, what did he/she do? Was she the same as any other one in the street. think about it. Any site that you could bring traffic will live, thats not the point. The point is how you will bring traffic..

 

I understand your mind.
But... for example my friends were using my hosting directory, when were looking for dedicated servers and for reseller. If a man don't know about blogs, forums, but looking for directory - he could just type "hosting directory" in search and make a search. Or don't do anything, and choose godaddy or yahoo hosting
