I used to work from home and I TRULY enjoyed it. But, it takes a LOT of dedication. If you mind wanders like mine, it might not be such a good idea. lol

Saying goes that when you are self employed, you have to be your own worst boss, and kick yourself in the ass on a daily basis :D

Yes you just need to have strict work ethics to make sure that you can seperate out work and personal life.

You have to define your working hours.

Why wouldn't it be worth it? What's better, being your own boss, or being an underpaid miserable schmuck working in an office like the rest of the general population? :)

A backup plan if you get sick or become unable to work should be in place if you have no employees or anyone else to rely on. Disability insurance becomes more important as well.

Sure i work from home but I also prefer to have an office to go to, nearby of course. I think this is true of many people who have kids and other trappings of domestic bliss that can really distract you.

I'm doing quite well, so I put some aside for eventualities. IMO insurance is a bottomless money pit. Or maybe I am just a control freak who has to handle everything himself? :D

I love working from home. It has allowed me the freedom to do what I want when I want. I know that some of you are going to say that is not really possible because of the deadlines that you have to meet and all. I would like to address that now.

If you take a job that might interfere with your family time or personal time then that is your choice. I personally still take jobs that I know I can complete before I want to do anything else. I love what I do right now. It is very rewarding and I have never felt better. Soon, I will have even more freedom because I am moving on up in my field.

Its worth it only if one can separate work form family and home. One has to give equal importance to both.

This really is not an issue if you run it like a business. The problem comes in because not everyone knows how to run a business. You have to know what your hours are, and keep at that. When its time for a vacation take one. Do not think that you have to work 15 hours a day to make any amount of money. This is not necessary, if you do this then you are likely to fail.
