I agree, working from home is definitely risky. I would consider it as supplementary source of income in the first place. Also if you don't have to put all your eggs into one basket than better not to do so.

I have been working from home for over ten years and I really miss knowing that if I work a certain amount of hours that a check will be waiting for me at the end of the week. There are times when I go through slow periods and I begin to panic thinking that all business has halted (especially in this economy) but then things pick up a week later. Working from home is better than being a slave until you are too old to do anything anymore, but there is a lot of worry involved so it is not perfect.

Most people would love to work at home. The problem is that most people aren't making 100k per year either. If they were, I can't imagine most people would pass it up to work for "the man". :)

Working from home takes time and effort. It's like planting a seed, give fertilizer and water and see it grow into money tree!

But, you can't work with teams, discuss issues in meetings, have social interaction and have to sit home whole day.

its good...but not easy, especially when you just about to start it...
needs patience and consistency before you get the clients and dollars coming to you...

Why not try and do it part time? A part time job and an internet income sounds pretty good to me!

To me work is work, whether it's at a building or in your home office. The price is about the same, true you get into your own groove with the home thing.

I definetely think it is worth it if you have a stable income. You are able to have more free time for yourself, have a flexible schedule and have more time for family.

Working from home isn't for everybody - I have some friends who tried it and pretty much went crazy from the lack of interaction with others. But I'm not like that - I am so much more productive working at home than I ever was in an office. I'll never go back to the 9 to 5 grind. Ever.

I LOVE to be my own boss and be able to work from everywhere I want - sure I agree to @focused: it takes some effort. But it's worth it! :)

Being your own boss beats a 9/5 job any time hands down. Been at it for 3+ years and I am never going back!

When you look at things that way, working for a boss is equally risky. The economic climate is changing every day, and your boss's business could dry up at any given time, and you would find yourself without a job.

In that regard I don' t see a changing Internet being any riskier then a regular job.

Also, by spreading out into different branches online(One by one, never all at once) you can put a cap on that risk and minimize it.

I am a SEO expert, in that regard I deliver entire campaigns to the client, but I also write articles, sales copy, press releases, you name it.

As a side income I run a few websites that I monetized using Ad sense, and also make a decent income from filesharing.
If one of them dries up, I replace it, but they will never dry up all at once, which gives me time :)

It don't matter you work from Home or from any other place. The only thing which plays important role is your hard work.
