Any idea if there are legal hurdles in running/owning a website (and earning through it) when someone is on Work Permit in US (aka H1B) Is having SSN/Tax ID entitles to earn from any sources (H1B visas are employer specific)
This is probably a "talk to an immigration lawyer" question. My guess is that if you make sure to pay your taxes, etc. you should be fine, but it kind of depends on what your web site does as well (i.e., if you sell stuff, you need to pay sales tax in some states, etc.)
I am sure this is now allowed. An H1B is your work permit to work for your employer, you can NOT work for yourself. But don't count on me as an immigration lawyer
