I have written articles for someone off DP, but haven't got any payment for a week now. Articles are already used. Is it a good idea to post the same articles to my own website since it's somewhat related?

try contacting the person you worked for, if you have confirmed that he/she have no plans of paying you, then i guess you should leave a negative iTrader and out him/her (say his username) so that he/she cant scam other people, as for your articles, because the person you worked for havent paid, its still officially yours.

I would contact them and force the issue. If they do not reply, take any documentation you have from communication with them and contact their host for copyright violations. Many host will suspend their account. At that point, I would use the articles yourself.

Name and shame him here. Actually, don't shame him as it breaks the rules. Also you can try resell them here (with caution)

did you get any agreement beforehand as to payment terms, ie prior to use? Also, was it clarified who would retain ownership of the material? I'm hoping you have it in writing.
I'd attempt mediation before going anything drastic. Try sending an invoice, giving a deadline for payment and stating that if not paid by that deadline, permission for use of the material will be revoked and any publication will be a breach of copyright, subject to further action.

I hope you still keep the email correspondence which you use to send the person your article. It's very risky doing business nowadays.

Pretty learned a lot of lessons with this. Yes, I still have all the emails with regard to the transaction. However, I failed to mention the method of payment which is supposed to be through paypal and the ownership of the articles before and after the payment. All was a rush and was my first project off DP. Thanks for sharing your ideas. I am now equipped with information on what to do for incoming projects out of DP.

You could always write another article titled "How Not to get Ripped Off By people Like Name Here" and describe your experience and what you will be doing differently next time. Just make sure you have his name right.

Send the new article to him as a "bonus". I'm sure he will take the hint and pay up :) If not, spend $10 and get it distributed to a few hundred blogs :)

I often get articles written and the terms are usually 50% upfront, and 50% on completion.

I hope it all works out for you.

I won't suggest doing anything like that cause it would be duplicate content and google will punish your site for it. if those artilcles havn't been indexed then you can use them.

Wow! That's good, but just got a reply earlier that Google might punish my site for posting a duplicate content. Is it worth the risk?

Do that anywhere but in the actual deal thread as a negative review, and you're going to get an infraction.

    Other than that...

    1. A week is not much time at ALL in the real business world. It's not that unusual for certain types of clients to have a 30-day turn-around on payments. If very specific payment terms weren't laid out in writing, you're really pushing it as far as any kind of dispute, and you'll do more to damage your own reputation as a service provider than you'll do to damage theirs.

    2. This kind of dispute is completely between you and the other member, and needs to be dealt with privately. No one here will get involved.

    3. Do NOT start threads to complain about business deals gone bad. There are two places where you can leave negative feedback: in the public deal thread as a negative review where they can respond, or in an iTrader comment viewable by others considering doing business with them. That's it. Anywhere else is inappropriate, and in the future will get you an infraction.
