Anyone here familiar with this tool? I found a few "long tail" keywords for a niche that had a good KEI (over 1000). But when I click on their "word rank" tool for that keyword and "check competition", it shows the KEI as .01. What am I not getting?
The WordRank KEI is real time from Google, while the search KEI is compiled from the BIG three and is cached for 90 days. Unless your going black hat, KEI with 1,000 is way to high for most.. Stick to around 100-600 is best for easy, but good traffic.
I had always thought the higher the KEI the better. Why do you recommend using keywords with KEI values no higher than 600?
Think of it like this... KEI can go from zero all the way up to infinity. Once you get past 600, you start getting into pop and drop terms. These are terms that have seen traffic for a day or two, but may not see traffic for a long time. When it comes to keyword targeting you want to find easy ranking, with good levels of traffic. KEI over 600 is almost always a guaranteed to be a pop and drop term that give easy ranking, but little to no traffic. You should always check the Historical tool to see if it can graph any 30 or 90 day trends before jumping on terms with such high KEI. Personally I like KEI around 100-400, as its prime area for medium to high traffic with just the right amount of work needed to make it really worth ones time. But that’s, what works for me in white hat, if you think it fits your skill level better, go for 400-600 for even easer ranking. With black hat your going to be going all out, and grab anything as low as it goes(mean high KEI), as it wont hurt you if its hit or misses, as your taking in pure number of terms, pages, indexing, etc.
The formula for KEI is the same, however based on the number of searches recorded by the services or the number of results reported back by the SE's at the time could be different and thus have slightly different KEI numbers. However KEI should only be used as a pre-indicator, then followed up with something like WordRank, and some basic hands on research at the search engines for best results. Best, Levi
I use Wordze, then sometimes I use Google's keyword tool in combination with it. Wordze covers everything I just about need to find, decide, and target a industry for winning results.
Any chance that Wordze will offer a year subscription comprarable to the wordtracker rates in the near future? Or are there promo codes? I'd like to try wordze, but even if I like it I still have to go with wordtracker due to its long term pricing.
