I have signedup for wordtracker. Found some good keywords. I have a question about KEI. What is the minimum KEI a keyword should have to choose that keyword for my SEO efforts? I know when a keyword with high search count can have high KEI even though the competition is also high. But in general what KEI value would be a good indication for choosing a particular keyword?
Wordtracker KEI is a good number to start. There is a scale on the competitive results that says 0-10 is poor 10-something else is good and x+ is amazing. Look at the results and it will list the numbers. I'm suddenly drawing a blank. Next, consider tossing out KEI and looking at the count and the competition. The count is the number of times searched for in the last 90 days. If you see a number 2 - that is bad. If you see 90, then it's searched for on average of once a day. Competition is another piece you need to look at closely. Let's say you have a keyword phrase with a count (90 days) of 400. And you have 50 competitors. You'll want to research those competitors by going to the engine you selected and typing in the phrase within quotes. Check out the Google PR of those top 10-20 pages. Could you break into that group?
Thanks for your input TigerGreen. I have looked into those numbers which you have mentioned. By the way, are you still offering the free copy of your wordtracker data slicer?
May be you are right Matt. Because most of the keywords with high KEI is only because of of high search count. But the competetion is so tough that I think it will be better to look more into competing site numbers than KEI. lol!
