I would like to use wordpress for my upcoming site (its not a blog). The reason being WP is easy compared to Joomla when it comes to customization (atleast for a non technical guy like me :).

I would like to have custom template which will look like a site not like a blog.

Is it possible ? Pl advice. Any examples.

I would think it is possible. If you go to some of the template providers for eg Template Monster, their WP templates really looks like a normal site. Even the free templates here are of a very high standard, try doing a search, you can find lots of them.

    Yes,

Here is just some examples of stuff I am working on in wordpress

    http://www.heavyplex.com

    http://www.sundaybrewmedia.com

    http://www.plumbingskool.com

The second two are still not done.

But basically I can create what ever you see on another site in wordpress using css and artwork, and then youll have all features as well.

The first site heavy plex is more filling the other are more white.

It all depends what you like, I personally like simple sites lately,

But like I said its ALL possible with wp :)

I do have more examples if you need them, but those should be enough to show you how flexible it is
    Hope this helps

    OH ALSO

    IF YOU LOOK here

    http://www.heavyplex.com/excavators/bobcat-excavator-model-316.html

and you click on the picture you can see other cool features wp has :)

Yes it is possible and many people are already dong it. Templates for Wordpress have become quite advanced especially thanks to the customs fields option, so nowadays everything is possible.

    Yes its surely is possible...
infact i started work on such a design lately.... but it didnt turned out as it was supposed to ..so i ultimately made it a blog designs... see here
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=627026

if you remove the footer thing (black one) it looks like a normal site to me.. ;)

Moreover you can make a custom homepage for your site and then inside you can use WP... like i did for fashdesigns.com ;)

Ask Darren of problogger, perhaps he knows how to advise you. His blog is more like a website than a blog. BTW let me know if you've found one.

If you create new pages in WordPress, it will look more like a site. You will want to use a singular column as well. All the navigational links will be at the top. This should accomplish what you are wanting to do.

Using wordpress will have some advantages over static website. These include ping services, seo and social bookmarking features and so go on with it.

Yeah. It has a lot of SEO Advantages. Just don't use the RSS Feed option unless you want your content scraped/stolen.

Well, since you're going down the custom route, what features do you want on the site? (I have a free theme framework under construction that will be released soon which may interest you, if it helps any.)
