Wordpress, WP United or Frontpage?

Hi everyone, I need your expertise :)

I am totally at loss with web hosting and stuff (please don't laugh :D) but I really want to have my own website soon. Now I've been reading up on Wordpress and I heard that it's a great CMS tool (I know zilch about Joomla, Mambo or Drupal). I'm thinking of using that, majorly tweak it in such a way that it can host videos, ads and stuff, use Bluehost (because this company offers auto installation...or so they say) etc. But just when I was ready to do this, I came across wp-united.com (it's Wordpress merged with PHBB forum) and I kind of like the sample websites. Still, because I have reservations with regard to my web stuff-related knowledge, I was just thinking of using Frontpage.

Now I envision my website to have a lot of ads on the header, left and right and in between will be the entries that I'll have. I also want to be able to insert a mini featured video and a lot of links to my sub websites.

What do you recommend I avail of? Tweaked wordpress or wp-united or frontpage? Something that'll be easy for me to manage. Help!

Tweaked Wordpress is by far the easiest to use for what you require. There are many free plugins to download and install to do exactly what you require.

Advice: Use Hostgator and not Bluehost. You will have a lot less hassles with installation and operations.

    Col :)

thank you very much for your advice :) i'll definitely heed that!

uhmm...one thing, though...do I need to sign up first with a web hosting company before I start tweaking wordpress or can i do the tweaking offline and then upload/install that? :D

No, Wordpress blogs can't be viewed offline (like .html sites). You will have to install Wordpress on a hosting account to start working on it.

I think you can install wordpress on your local PC, test it and get on it.
