Wordpress with SEO

Hey all, newbie here.

I was looking to start up a website in a month or so (I'm just preparing articles and such first).

So I was reading about Wordpress and SEO, and my question is, can I use Wordpress for non-blog style websites? Or, essentially, can I disable user comments and such?

Also, is there a site that gives some general info on SEO -- with screenshots? I seem to learn best from a visual method.

You can use WordPress as a CMS for anything really. I have seen it done on plenty of sites where they use Wordpress as a CMS and it doesn't even look like a blog.

Here is a WebMaster Links Page that you can see by itself would not look at all like a blog. You can do several of these and have no indication that it was a blogging software.

 

You can disable comments function by editing a few line of code.
