I just tried to install wordpress through my godaddy account and it keeps giving me an installation error message.

I know it is compatible with my settings (iis7).

Has anyone had any experience with this matter?

    Thanks

First off, I wouldn't recommend hosting with GoDaddy.... for anything. Second, does it give you a code or anything in the error message or does it just say "Error"?

This is the message it gives me,

    Error:
    An error has been encountered

    Cancel Installation

And why would you advise against godaddy?

    Thanks

I would use linux since wp is written in php. I believe it is possible to install it on iis but its going to require capabilities not native to iis(?)

I don't do windows so I can't be sure really.

one thing for certain is seo friendly urls are going to be a real pain in the arss on iis which is going to cause a range of other issues simply getting it to run properly.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Are you trying to manually install it or doing it through the control panel on your godaddy windows plan?

You have to make sure you have linux hosting for wp to populate properly.

The best way is to email godaddy (if not mistake is godaddy customer support), they will reply u but at least need to wait 24-28 hours to get their reply

Yea finally broke down and waited on hold for 50 mins (GoDaddy). What they told me was that they were having problems
with their app auto install feature.

    I appreciate the info guys.

    Thanks
