Wordpress Vs Joomla plugins update times

Would you say that for the plugins available for wordpress throughout the community that they are generally seen to (updated) sooner than plugins get updated for Joomla?

Im aware they both have a lot available, but Joomla 1.5 and waiting for extensions being updated for it may put me off for a few projects that i have in mind.

Will still use Joomla in the future when some of the extensions catch up.

Is this an issue with wordpress or are they more often updated (plugins) not the script itself.

I haven't used Joomla in about 6-7 months, but the plugin update time was pretty far and between, compared to Wordpress. It seems like the Wordpress ones need constant updating (as well as Wordpress itself). I think that's the only annoyance I really have with Wordpress.

yes, it seems I'm always updating WordPress and right now waiting for plugin authors to catch up to 2.5
Generally the WP plugins I use get updated fairly quickly.

    Thanks markn26 and arwen54
i feel wordpress is probably my best bet for a number of websites that i have in mind then, i guess i can deal with very frequent updates as long as things are being updated often, i prefer that, thanks guys.

Joomla is an older CMS, much more established than Wordpress.... hence its upgrades are slower.... however, wordpress compared to Joomy is much newer.... and is in the developing stage... hence all the plugins and the CMS itself is being upgraded more often.

I would of thought that Joomla being older would be more on top of things if longer established.

Saying that, i understand outside developers will work at their own pace, if something is free i understand theres no obligation to do anything.

    haha...

i guess it depends on how u look at it.. some people just love systems that constantly upgrade versions.. and other just hate it.. always having to update what u have..

i kinda of agree that since joomla is now a bit more stable so many updates wont be that needed...

but u never know the real politics behind a CMS..
