Wordpress > Video site.

    Hi guys,

    As Wordpress is a very powerful cms and I have seen many things done with it... I'm curious is it possible to make a video sharing site like Youtube, Megavideo, Pornotube etc with Wordpress? Having the actually videos on the site and not just pages of embedded youtube vids?

    i dont think wordpress can do like this, joomla maybe can do this

    I think you need a lot of thing before you make site like youtube
    you need extra server... and you must have access to modify your server.. cause you need install some plugin for your video sharing...
    like FFMpeg-PHP, Mencoder and also Mplayer, LAME MP3 Encoder, etc...

    Wordpress lacks the social aspect to make a good video host.

    Something like "socialengine" will work out of the box and can do video encoding, social sharing, etc.

    But you're probably best off writing your own solution so that you can scale it out easily in the future.

    I could've swore I've seen a plugin that would do that. I'll see if I can dig it up again (if I remember right anyways lol)

    You might wanna skip wordpress and try an actual youtube clone. It would probably wore alot better. Heres a fairly advanced open source one you might wanna see: http://www.phpmotion.com/

    automated for user uploads from front page !

    well you see its very much possible to even use ! vlc web plugin to just stream the video from the server, so there really is no need to encode the video again. you could just stream the video,

    here is the project i've worked on few days ago, http://ninjareloaded.co.cc click on post and install vlc player with activeX you will understand how it works after.

    this is manual posting but could be done with xmlrpc.xml with php stright from amazon services to get your file etc, my programming is very crap but i know its possible. i would've done it before but just my experience doesnt let me do it yet !
