Nice list ! thanks . But sometimes, after we click "publish" , we have to wait for sometime for the post to get published.
I have heard of this, but I have never experienced any slows when I publish. Thanks for the rep too guys, I appreciate it
i only ping my site to http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 these two only. -cypher.
The only one I use is http://rpc.pingomatic.com/. My understanding is that all of the important ones are updated by that single ping - and doing it that way avoids the delays in publishing or updating posts.
A large ping list slows down posting and not required at all. Pingomatic (default with WP) works just fine. You can also use FeedBurner pingshot and autopinger.com
I've yet to see this post delay from having a large list and what's wrong with trying to get further penetration by pinging additional services? Regards, Robert
The answer is if you ping update services too often, your blog gets banned. Many RPC servers send pings to multiple services, adding to the problem.
I have a new plugin that checks the ping list for duplicates and reports how many times they were found. It is a must have for those of you that use large ping lists. No sense to end up double pinging any of those services. You can find the plugin at the Spunky Jones SEO Strategy Blog.
