Wordpress Themes That Break The Mold

I have seen a number of WordPress themes out there, but I don't see many that "break the mold" of a traditional blog layout. I've always complained that their themes look too "bloggy". Usually I will create my own themes from scratch because of this. Does anyone know of any good themes for WordPress that look like all-out websites and not like blogs? This would work well for developers who use WP for a CMS.

There are plenty of them. Look up Gridlock, News-wp, suhweet, simplicity 1.0, futurosity-altera, and mimbo. The best I've seen is the new theme called the morning after - awesome for mag-style blogs. :)

Just search for their name + theme in Google, and they're easy enough to find.

I was looking for some themes like that. Thanks jhmattern! Also, you guys know any theme that seriously "break" the damn old blog interface? I'm building an website and something like cssremix.com (yes, they use wordpress) would be great.

The Morning After Theme.... wooooooooooo, its serious :)

Not to mention, for $49.00 I guess you could consider Simplicity 1.0 a bargain

Yeah, the morning after theme is great.

Simplicity 1.0 was free when I got it and featured it. I'm actually using it on my PR blog. I have no idea when he started charging. A shame. :(

I don't blame him for charging for new ones, because he puts out amazing themes. But charging for ones that hundreds have already downloaded for free is just silly and would do more to alienate people than entice them to buy imo. Oh well. I'll have to remember to remove them from my feature post now, b/c I try not to feature paid themes on that blog. Glad someone pointed it out. By all means, it's a great theme and easy to work with though.

^^ I agree, I want a blog design like JohnChow.com ... DAMN that is one serious design. Same person also designed Shoemoney.com ... but the thing is the person charges like $750 ... so I need to hunt down on DP for some help :)

His zeke theme is pretty similar structure-wise. You could make it very similar to simplicity by altering the images and css, and that one's still free. :)

If someone is interested in paid themes, Brian Gardner has some great ones. Revolution theme (I purchased this one), Revolution News Theme, Revolution Sports Theme (I plan to purchase this one), and Revolution magazine theme (I'll likely buy this one too when I have time to launch the site).
