If you sponsor a word press theme and it has your link at the bottom and adult sites pick up your theme and use it will it hurt your site?
Wow, I never thought about this. Maybe if you contact that site they would remove your link. I thought I read before that this could harm your site in some way? Maybe not because you don't have control over who links to you.
Well I have found one webcam site using a wp theme I sponsored. There is of course no contact info on the site to ask them to remove the link. I hope its not penalizing. I have been reading this morning on this subject and so far it seems that a few sites linking to you like this wont hurt your site as long as you are not linking to them.
I have found this alot. I never realised there was so many porn blogs. Just dont sponsor a pink/light blue theme
Yeah I sponsored a Pink one and noticed a whole lot too LOL. Luckily "Adult webmasters" know a bit more than the "average webmaster" and most of them deleted every outgoing link (designed by, sponsors all of it, bastards!) to funnel their own pagerank through their blogs, but in this case im pretty happy they removed it I wouldn't want them linking to me anyway!
incoming links can't harm you....If that was the case I would start a porn site and link to my competitors
Thanks for all the replies. I tend to like the pink or girly ones because I sell jewelry and wanted to get girly type stuff linking to me. Well I guess I learned my lesson on that and wont do the feminine looking themes again. The porn sites that linked to me did not, unfortunately, remove the links.
What is wrong with adult links? You can not cotrole who link to you and google maybe just won't count link but it won't hurt your SERP. There is only one problem - customers maybe won't trust you anymore if they see your shop is linked my porn sites.
