Wordpress theme | Non scrolling Sidebar

Hi friends,
I am looking for simple wordpress theme, with a non-scrolling sidebar. I mean, when the page is scrolled down, the lleft sidebar shouldn't be scrolling with the page, rather stays fixed. Just like the left sidebar in ask.com

Although ask.com may be using frames for that, thee are other html templates that can do the same without using frames. For example: thinkingbuddy

I couldn't find any from by googling. Have you ever seen any such theme, or know where it is available? Help me please..

 

You will need to put position:relative; on that element.

 

Is it position: relative
or position: fixed

If we do that to any theme will it work? Because most of the themes are designed in such a way that the sidebar is below the header bar. Is there any theme that can be modified easily to accomplish the above?

I would think twice before doing it because i think it looks a horrible imo

 

Marc, I am setting up the site. Not yet ready. I am installing wordpress. Looking up for a theme. Well, I think converting a html theme in to wordpress theme will work for me.. but I don't have much experience in it, and it may take a lot of time for me to design a theme for myself. I am looking for a wordpress theme that looks/works like this one: thinkingbuddy

Ofcourse, this is not a wordpress theme. But I am searching for a theme like that. The left side bar and header fixed on the page. Will it be easy to modify some other wordpress theme to function like the above page, or will it be easy to modify this template to a wordpress theme? Well, if anyone knows of an existing theme with the no-scroll sidebar option, that will be fine. Look and feel is not much of a consideration.

Well, time sure flies, I've been sitting at my computer this whole time and finally found a theme called "Picture Box" by themewarrior, however, it's not free ($70). But it does serve as a great example and with a few modifications, I can stick ads on the top left and the visitor would always see it.

If you have any similar themes please post them. I'm looking for free themes if possible.

 

Here is an example of a scrolling ad, see mortgagemag dot com. A little too risky for my blood, but guessing it does well...

 

I don't think it would make your site nice!
